Seeing how this is a popular question over in the Tippmann forums, I thought I would post this formula which was found on a paintball related forum. The numbers aren't exact, but they will provide a ballpark estimate.

(a) x (b) = amount of shots

(a) = size of your tank (68ci, 47ci, etc)

(b) is determined by the following:
3000psi = 10
4500psi = 15
5000psi = 20
*increase by increments of 5 for next psi size

Ex: 68ci 4500psi tank
68 x 15 = 1020 (again this is not an exact number)

wow, approximate is right. Your formula doesn't take a LOT of things into consideration.

The volume of air consumed by a gun differs from gun to gun. Also low pressure guns will be able to get more shots per fill as the pressure drops.

Then you have to take other things into consideration. Is an R/T or Cyclone present? The efficiency of regulators, whether said regulators are present.

Ram volume
breech size
closed/open bolt

I didnt create the formula. I found it on another site. I thought it was useful and could help others out. But thanks for throwing all those wonderful things out there..

My tank gets 1380 shots according to this, but more often I get about 11-1200

True true, but a loose guide is better than nothing.

EDIT- I use a 68/4500 tank, and on a 4000 psi fill I can get around 1700 shots, but I still think this is good for a general guide.

I wonder, do you think I could get a 92ci/5000 tank? That;d be near 2000 shots per fill and it'd only cost five bucks to fil...
