**NEW PICS** Palmers WOOT

here it is finally, as you all know i finished the vert feed. then i did a bunch of milling, first i rounded off where the dovetails were, filed off the finger grooves on the foregrip, hosed the rear sight, filled the cautions, filled the sharp corner where the round body of the gun meets the square part on the bottom and created a radius, filled the original cocking slot, filled the front velocity adjust hole and lastly filled the rear sight hole. i machined a slot up top and front for the cocking lever to come through and custom made a new bolt connecting rod with the cocking lever attached, then when done with the gun i turned to the x-chamber. that i machined the finger grooves off and shortened it almost an inch (i removed one of the four stages to achieve this) to give it a better look. then i benched it all out to remove the scratches and nicks primed and painted.

here it is new color on the x-chamber and better pics

got all the bugs worked out R/T just needed a little oil and i took apart the halves and removed the high spot. this thing works great i can't wait till that apache comes in so i can test it out to it's full potential!!! Rambo

I love it. I'd get some bolt or something to make the cocking rod or whatever(can't think of dang name) better looking. Otherwise it looks great.
cdacda13

Looks nice.
tigman250

the cocking lever dosen't look the best but it was suprisingly a pain to make when i welded the lever on it the heat warped the rod just a little so it took alot of adjusting to get it to work right. one thing i can say about it now is i cant believe how quiet it is now that all the holes are welded shut
TriggerHappy1

Looks very good! Very nice work. Are you sure its totaly done?
tigman250

i am concidering getting it profesionally painted, that is the only step throughout this whole deal that i'm not quite happy with. if i do that i'll be afraid to take it into the woods though Laughing

It looks like it could have more. Anyway, it's still awesome.
RoboCop

Great looking gun. I think you need to get a new hopper for that R/T. Flames look great and also the pics needed to be rated so I gave them all tens. Cheers

I'd say black would be better.
sinisterNorth

Awesome job. It looks great. I think it would look better with the X-chamber painted black. Great job! Cheers
Grunt_98c

tigman250

You're joking right..?

Approx. how many hours did it take?
tigman250

i meant the color of the x-chamber looks like crap Laughing

the centerfeed has the most hours into it probably 15 hours
front cocking approx 2 hours
all the milling approx 6-8 hours
paint was all day (had to wait between coats) then i was in such a hurry to see it together i smudged a few spots, mainly arround the nuts where the loctite reacted with the fresh paint
Smitty

You spent a lot of time. It looks great. It'd be awesome with a black X-Chamber.
abr5

awsome gun, u gota get video of it shooting, and more pics

if i had a little more ambition i would take it off to paint it right now. as far as the time thing my wife has been totaly crabby about this whole project that's why i pushed to finish it this weekend i'm tired of her complaining. instead of flames i shoulda named it..........the other woman Laughing

i'll get a vid up as soon as my apache arrives. still have a few bugs too R/T is acting funny (turn the screw all the way in and no pressure) and the halves still seem to be pinching the rear bolt. this is probably the problem with R/T also i'll take it apart tomarrow to fix all the problems

Haha. Yeah. I'm just glad I'm 14 and not married so I can do whatever. Tounge Anyway, I would love a project gun, and as you probably know I'm getting a Spyder Imagine Select. I'm excited! I want to do a bunch of stuff to it. If you have any suggestions PM me.
tigman250

when you get it spend some time looking at it don't just start hacking and spewing paint my brother in law jumped into his 98 without much thought of where he was going and now he's got one nasty looking marker. just take your time you'll do just fine
tigman250

got new pics up (translated)...........bump
RoboCop

Looks great!! Thumbs up
TriggerHappy1

Wow the centerfeed looks so flush. Cant even tell there used to be a huge hole on the side. Awsome Santa .
Grunt_98c

Thumbs up hopefully you like the apache your gettin and very nice job again on the gun.
sinisterNorth

That's a lot of time, but still a job well done.

i spent an INSANE amount of time blending that thing, from bending the side profile (went through 2 prototypes before keeping the third) to the final fit on the gun wich required 3 trips to the welder to fill in small areas that needed to be blended i don't know if you can see it in any of the pics but i actually added material to the gun half to help blend things the way i wanted it
TriggerHappy1

Howd you do the front cocking thing? Im guessing its just a new longer linkage arm bent up and around in that area. Looks very nice.

Smitty

Nice. I love it.
tigman250

Very clever!

By the way, welding question- My bro is pimping out his Nissan pickup. This required making the tailgate solid so it doesnt fold down. He MIG welded V shaped steel onto the gate and side of the bed, than bondoed the exterior "crack". There was no gas left so he just went with strait electricity which I know you can do. The welds are very spotty and inconsistant, will this have any concerning effect on strenth? Doesnt the Agron just make it more insulated and easier to work with? Or does it have any effect on strenth?

i feel so violated you hijacked my thread to ask a welding question Laughing no prob i'll pm you

sinisterNorth

So thats how you did it...very nice!
piant4life.

nice paint job
sinisterNorth

Plan on getting a vid up? I would love to see one.
tigman250

for sure! just waiting on my hopper should be here in about 3 bus. days then it'll take me a day or two to put something together
tigman250

well this has been a long time coming i have wanted a Palmers Stabilizer for a very long time, i finally took the plunge and bought one!! i just threw on a rifle scope mount to make it operational (just temporary) i plan on making a block style mount to get the palmers closer to the drop i think it kinda looks a bit funny now with all that space in between it. i think a block will fill the space much nicer. here is some pics let me know what you think!!

i can drop the pressure to about 350 psi and get it to fire decent it's much better at 400 psi i don't know if i will spend alot of time modding the valve as this gun is VERY reliable now (kinda amazing concidering the amount of crap i have changed on it) i'm afraid my luck may run out if i start messing with the valve? plus i haven't heard that much positive results from the actual LPK, although i wouldn't mind reducing the recoil, but to do this i would have to lighten the rear bolt then lighten the drive spring and valve spring.....hell if i go that far i might as well open up the valve ports too! i don't know what i want to do just yet. my better judgement tells me to leave well enough alone..........why should i start listening to my better judgement now??? help me decide!

1-leave it alone bonehead

2-aw hell keep going
TriggerHappy1

LPK isnt that big of a deal. There arnt many if any benefits from all that work, only more crap on your gun and the abilty to say you have a LP gun. Unless you want another project, keep it as is. My opinion though. LPK would be a pretty big project, and may give you problems through and after the modding.
sinisterNorth

Looks nice even with the temporary mount. I wouldnt worry about dropping the operating pressure anymore, 400 is pretty good. Cant wait to see the block mount!
g36 monkey

No need to drop anymore, like they said, 400 is enough. its nice as is, no further modding required, now if you get bored then....go for it.
Grunt_98c

nice..i would have got a male one...but that's me..i like it...maybe you should start on a trigger guard for your trigger...

LOL that's been on my list for a while thanks for the reminder!
g36 monkey

ya know...i didnt even notice you dont have a trigger guard. I guess im just not that observant, or it didnt bother me oto much Laughing
RoboCop

I don't like how you have the palmer on the mounter. You should have it more like so...

You should have moved up the palmer to where the mounting ring is right where the tank screws in. I also think the drop is a little too big for it to look good. If you were to move the Palmer upwards more and have a smaller drop without all that length, it would look a lot better in my opinion. I like the look of the female rather than the male, but you might have been better off with a male, but with a little changing on what you have, you can make it look really good.

Your mounting ring thing looks a lot different than mine with a lot more space inbetween the drop and the palmer.
Justice

Get a new on/off and do somthing with your steel braided. It's really messes up the great looks of your 98.
g36 monkey

It looks like a macro on there to me.... Thinking
