almost done.....

this weekend i did alot of work.....and i'm still not done...

site rails done.....and here is were i ran into trouble...

i found some paint in my grandfathers closet...i so used it....it came out ok i guess...i could be better.....it said i didn't need to use primer and it's for metal.....so what black non glossy paint should i pick up from the store??? gonna re-paint it this week.....and is this paint stripper any good??? found this also...

....also before i forget...the reason why i painted my gun.....i wat tired of seeing my gun with no paint...and i'm gonna go paly sunday and i wanted to use it.....so if you can help me out that would be very much appreciated...thanks.....crap and the paint i used is called rust-oleum...

Your best bet is to just use sand paper.

Try to remove ALL the paint, get it down to bare metal. Then use a AUTO-BODY primer. Then use AUTO-BODY paint. I can't stress the AUTO-BOODY paint enough.

wow grunt your the kind of guy who likes doing this stuff Salut good work
TriggerHappy1

Looking good. Site rail looks very nice, good work. Id go paint stripper, then steel wool to smooth it, then some expensive good autobody paint like cda said. You could probaly even drop by your nearest body shop and get an awsome paintjob for a few bucks.

the reason i painted my gun with that crap paint...
1. tired of seeing my gun un-painted
2. wanted to see if my milling looked nice painted
3. i would like to use my gun this sunday when i go play....

so i need to find the money and get good paint.....also this is temporary....in the end i will get my gun powerd coated....

use Dupli Color brand paints and use SELF ETCHING PRIMER i'll say it again SELF ETCHING PRIMER if you use any old primer or just paint it will chip off and look like Ewwww big time. no paint sticks well to aluminum and the self etching primer actually has a mild acid in it to etch the surface so the primer can get ahold of the alloy. the Dupli Color line is a very good paint and it's only like $4-$5 a can, VERY reasonable. any auto zone or napa carries it and one can will do several guns. to get a flawless paint job lightly sand with 220 or finer between coats, this will remove any fine scratches then wipe it down with rubbing alchol to remove oils from handling it.

good luck Grunt if you need any help just ask!

Grunt_98c

i'm at school right now...so at my house both 98c's are painted and drying...all i need to do is to do some touch ^'s and finish porting VA...and test it out before sunday...pic's and maybe a vid up soon..also before i forget fix my E-bolt...i would really like to use it sunday...
tigman250

that is going to be one sweet 98 Grunt i am jealous!
Grunt_98c

ok..i got to use my gun sunday in action...and it was nice...first i had some velocity problems...it would not shoot over 260...so i was shooting 250 to 245 at the beginning of the day...doulvle ball detents worked great and i had no bolt chops but i had my halo B chop some paint in my hopper...but it was cheap paint from this other guy during a game...other than that it worked perfect..the way i wanted my gun to work...but later in the day i did shoot over 260 after 2 fills...but i was shooting from 245 to 270...lol..i think it's because of the ported VA...or my RVA or even my spring kit i used...but i noticed nothing wrong  when i was shooting...and no i did no sweet spot my R/T the whole day...but i was cool with that...and yes i do have a big hose fitting on my R/T..i'll take some pic's later of it...just need some batteries.
