Cocking Rod

I was working today and found a very heavy, but light wood. I began to wonder if I shaved it down it it'd work. It'd be durable and light. Any comments?

I take it this is for your 98C?

I wouldn't go for it, but whatever makes you happy.

It might work, but I dont know if wood would be the best thing to use.

It's durable, but light. I won't do it, but just wondered.

If you have a really tough wood and cut it correctly, it could be done. You probably would end up cracking it because the drive spring travels through the cocking rod. If you were to make the hole for the drive spring, it would probably cause the wood to be too brittle. Maybe if you got petrifide wood. Thinking

I thought petrified wood was basically rock.....

You can drill through rock... Masonry bit! But drilling through anything round (with a hand drill anyway) is tough.

Pretty much. It's made when a tree stands in a body of water for like a million years or some **** like that, and all the minerals in the water are diffused into the wood, and all the wood into the water.

I went caving once, and drilling through rock sucks, I found this small hole with an airflow through it, so I wanted to investigate, but was to lazy to do so, so I'll return one day, with friends and beer!

Hammerdrill my friend. Drilling through stone with one is very entertaining for me. Had to dril about 50 3/4in wide, 2in deep holes in the sidewalk around my pool for the cover. Fun!

I don't think it would be strong enough to last long unfortunately. That would look awesome though if it worked. Maybe add some nice wood grips too. And maybe a wood foregrip as well. I like the look of some real woods, and there aren't too many paintball guns that have wood on them.

Yeah..Not all petrified wood is round though so it could be possible but I still wouldnt try it.
