I was at the field today....me and the owner are sort of good friends....and i was talkin to him a bit....i asked how old you had to be to get a job there....he said 16....i told him "crap....im only 14...i was lookin for a job" he didnt believe me that i was 14 because i know i look older than i am...i turn 15 in a few weeks though....but he was lik e"just say your 16...you look 16 to me....and ill let you work here next weekend...."

So i start on saturday early in the mornin next weekend....i get $50 on saturdays and a case of paint on sundays....the good paint...plus i get to play for free.....and its a great thing i love to ref cuz im gonna be doin alot of it...finally i will have money to do what i want.....plus ill be better than those sorry excuses he had for refs out there today....one big fatty just sat down and pretty much watched ants move around.....sorry for the super long post but im so happy.

Meh Ill be getting a commercial job requiring all the legal BS...
g36 monkey

ha ha.....i was gonna go work at like a winn dixie or publix (if they dont have them in your area its like a grocery store...like a piggly wiggly or somethin)
THen id have to wait till i was 15 and worry with those applications and crap...psshh! Laughing
carbinefreak

heh... just wait until you're a sophmore in college and looking for a summer internship.

i had to send a cover letter and a resume into a law firm for a secretary job. 9am - 5pm mon-fri during the summer

i don't know what they'd be paying me yet, but i did a little math and at $10 an hour i'd be making 6 grand over the summer if i get it. interview is on tuesday... wish me luck.
g36 monkey

that would be cool.....i was supposed to work at my friends dads work over the summer and get supervisor pay but his dad lost his job.....so no few thousand dollars for me over the summer.

I need about $500 to make my halfpipe for skateboarding.
TriggerHappy1

Im in no rush to get one... yet... I have under $100 left cash which needs to last a while. Trying not to burn through that quickly....

Hate jobs, im too young. Jobs are for adults, my job is school right now and i hate to loose all my after school adventures. Grrrrrr
You Wont See Me

I felt the same way tig, but once you get one and do something you like, work isnt all that bad. Plus you get paid to do it.

For example, right now I stock for a local grocery store. Basically I put cans on the shelves and build displays of food. Building a display is like playing with legos, only much bigger. Its actually pretty fun and I enjoy working. Plus it goes by quick and otherwise I'd be sitting here on the computer like I am now.

Somehow that post turned out alot different that I intended it to.
abr5

i guess stacking cans is fun...
what'd be more fun is if you stacked em, then knocked em down with a turkey
sinisterNorth

^Then you'd have to stack them again.... THumb down

Good job getting that job. I might get a job at the hospital this summer. I'm gonna be real busy though, os I may not have time for one.
g36 monkey

see th1...the advantage to this is that its not one og those binding jobs "you must be here at this time" i can just call him and tell him if im comin or not or if im goin out just to play...thats what i love about it...and its only on the weeknds. and robo....that owuld be 10 saturdays worth of money.....cant help ya out Laughing

I need about $500 to make my halfpipe for skateboarding.

how big are u making it? u can make a 4 foot mini pipe, 8 feet wide (tiny i know) for like 300-400
RoboCop

Right now I am just making a 4 foot wide quarter pipe. If I enjoy that and want more, i will add another 4 foot quarter pipe making one 8 foot quarter pipe. Then I will make another 8 foot quarter pipe making myself a half pipe. If i feel like it, I will make a 7 foot transition. 7' is as far and as short as I will go. I might go a little shorter but nothing less than 6' because it would get too close from ramp to ramp. Anything farther than 7' is not enough speed to get up the other side. Oh ya, the ramps will be 4 feet tall. Also, i will be making atleast one deck 2 feet wide along the top of the ramp. The other side might be smaller like 1.5'.

I am really getting into skateboarding so we will see where this goes.

This is what it will basically be like.

oh Robocop skates???
RoboCop

As of now, I am saving to build a quarter pipe. It will strictly be for only skateboarding because I heard bikes and inline skates will ruin a skateboard ramp.

Yes I do skateboard.

Hopefully in the future, I can build a half pipe.

Does that answer all questions.

sometimes the pegs on bikes can hurt where the coping meeting the ramp, if the pegs keeps hitting the wood. dunno bout skates though

I don't think scootering on it is so great for it either. All i am thinking about is how the weight is distributed across the ramp. If you really were to come by when it is complete, I guess i wouldn't mind, because it would only be about $30 to fix it. First I will make you sign a waver just incase you do fall through. Also, I think I will be making my ramp alot stronger than what they tell in the instructions by adding extra cross support beams under the arc. If I do that, It should be fine for inline and scootering.

I got out the scooter the other day and tried to jump. All I get is like 2 inches at most. If I try harder, I hurt myself and fall off.

Also, I have already made a launch ramp. I am using it to try to ollie off ramps. It is very hard for me because i don't get much air yet, but after the rain clears up, I will practice. If I have time after I finish homework after school this week, I will make another ramp that has a deck. I will try to get pictures up for yall to see what I have made.

aw man, great times on my little kicker. u gotta put a turned over garbaje can after it, and do an indy over it (u might wanna do it into the grass first). going really fast and getting distance is fun too
RoboCop

Change of plans. If I plan on making a half pipe in the future, why not just make it easier on myself and make an 8 foot quarter pipe from the beginning. I think it will even be cheaper than I first planned for a quarter pipe.

Here is the site of the basic plans that I will be basing my building off of.
http://www.xtremeskater.com/

I won't be doing the masonite or skatelite because masonite gives off dust like crazy and skatelite is too expensive. I want to do hardboard, because it is smooth but it will deteriate(sp?) under rain and stuff. Also, hardboard might dent when skating on it.

I read that pressure treated wood is terrible after it has rained and then sun dried. I heard it will begin to warp and twist and junk that is not good for it. Does anyone have suggestions? I think painting the 2X4's and anything pressure treated except the plywood would help solve this problem.
