Like Warez or Limewire....But I'm asking how to get them to my IPod.
P8ntBallKing10

well the program that my older bro stole he installed, it is specially for ipod video, and he puts the DVD in the hard drive and rips it into the program, then somehow he switches it to ituens folder.

Ipods video only use a certian video format that can only be downloaded from Itunes. Which means you have to pay.

Ever try reading the manual smitty?
g36 monkey

i know people use limewire to get videos on their ipod, you have to download the same format off of limewire to do it, then move it to your itunes folder, thats the one thing i dont like about ipods, everything has to be itunes.

Well I just don't have a plug in for the Firewire. We'll need to get something to get it to work, but you can take DVDs and ITunes will convert it to the right format so you can put it on there.
rossy11223

I have read tutorials online and in magazines on how to get your own videos on your ipod. They have to be in a certain format. I don't remember where I read them though.

*stretches out arms*

First, acquire your video, whatever format, from wherever you choose.
Good.

Next, click this link. http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
Install it yo.

Then it's pretty easy. Set up a new profile with these settings...
Mode Mpeg-4> CBR
Resolution 320x240
Passes One
Bitrate 768
Framerate input

Audio Settings:
bitrate 128
channels stereo
sample rate input

To make it easy , name this profile "ipod" and then click apply

Now go to the "convert" tab click transcode new video, select the profile you just made, and then find your video when the search box comes up, and hit enter.

When it's done converting, the converted video goes to c://program files/videora ipod converter/ videos

Take that video, drag it into your itunes, and transfer away.

BY THE WAY , firewire is not supported on the 5g ipod (aka "video ipod). Usb will do just fine.

Yours truly,

The forum's ipod specialist.

Any problems, just ask.

+ 1 FOR ME.
Smitty

So I don't even need the Firewire as long as I put it in that format? That was a waste of $40 if that's true, and I'll be sending it back if that's what you meant.
Smitty

Well after about 2 seconds it says Transcode Complete, but it's not putting it in the folder you said. What's up with that?
tigman250

you young whippersnappers and your gadgets nowadays. just use the RCA cable from your VCR plug it into your little gadget and record off of that....sheezze

now wasen't that simple?
Smitty

Haha. Nice tig. Tounge
P8ntBallKing10

king Still Yea for me, i'm not needed anymore!
pb125

What I was saying about the firewire is, it does not work with the 5g ipod. What I think happened is when they made the new ones slimmer, they took out the support for firewire. You can still use a USB wire though. As to your problem with videora, give me a minute, I'll post back in a sec.
pb125

Hmm, I don't seem to have a fix. What you can do for me is this...

Go to setup, and then the console tab. Enable the little console debug.

Then go to convert the video exactly like I told you before. If it still only takes two seconds, copy/paste everything in the console onto here, and I'll take a look at it.
Smitty

Still not working. Here's what it says in the console:

OH!

I know exactly what the problem is.

As silly as this sounds, the file name of your video is way too long. Try to shorten it to under ten characters, and no spaces. Then give it a whirl.
Smitty

Seems to be working. How long should it take? The file is in the box on the bottom. Should I remove the video from Queue?
pb125

It shouldn't be in the que...

I have no idea how long it should take. For me a 30 minute video took about 2 hours last night. But I have a real slow computer.

Nothing should be in the que, unless you have a second video lined up.
Smitty

Well I can't get it to work....I go to convert, then transcode new video, then change quality profile to IPod (settings you told me), and hit apply. It just shows it saying how it's starting, then it quickly goes through a few more things and says it's done. I can't find it. Thinking
