New graphics kit from Tippmann (A-5 & 98)

I saw the pattern they are using on the Tippmann preview website. I am not crazy about it but I will still get it if the price is right. My question is where?

http://preview.tippmann.com/product_guide/accesDetails.aspx?id=63
You Wont See Me

They don't have them for sale yet.
I'd call tippmann and see if they'll give you a date for release.
Nickodemus

Maybe then I should wait until I get some feedback about there quality until I get mine. I would be very happy if they marketed a DK Flatwood pattern.
Smitty

If they're cheap I'll try to pick one up.
Nickodemus

If there cheap everyone will get one. That would be a smart thing to do. However, printing like that, then 3M's take, those decals could get expensive. I think they will be around $30-$50. We will see.

Either that or I'll get some camo tape.

That's because Tippmann doesn't know what they want for them, and they aren't selling them yet.
rossy11223

But it says the price is $20.......

Hmmmmmm........ I bet Tippmann tries to sell it for $50. Tounge They seem to do that. Anyway, maybe I'll check it out, or it may just be a price they put in there.

Action villiage puts items on their site like a month or so before it comes out. Its the way they stay on top of their competitors.
RoboCop

Action Village just loves to put the products on display before it is even out (even though they have no picture)

Yes, but you don't know if that's the actual price. They may change it when they know how much Tippmann wants for them. I don't know.
rossy11223

I love action village. Surprised
You Wont See Me

Exactly. They have the cyclone for the 98 series at like $69 or something liek that. I really hope it goes down or else its not going to sell.

I doubt it. Newbs will be like, "OMG Cylon rox da wold!"
rossy11223

cyclone feed at action village

Here it is!
You Wont See Me

But for the price of the cyclone, you could get an eggy with z board
rossy11223

But if you know you are going to be keeping your 98c for a long time, like me, you aren't going to want to keep buying batteries for your eggy.

True. I will probably have my 98c forever. When I'm 90 I'll have a pimpin' 98c. Cool Rambo

Wow, our predictions were almost exact! Cool to see it out even though it means nothing to me.

For what you save in batteries, you pay in gas.

YWSM has a point. I guess it's up to the buyer to decide which will work better for him/her.
rossy11223

I still like the cyclone. I will like it even better when the price goes down. Tounge
You Wont See Me

Dont get me wrong, I love my cyclone. I'm just pointing out that it wont sell well with the prices so high.
rossy11223

That is correct. If the price doesn't go down, a 12v revvy will be holding my paint.

Size, speed, it's a POS.

And why not just spraypaint your marker instead?

I thought it used the excess blow back gas that the tippys waste anyway: At least on the A-5. I'm not sure how the 98 runs it. I have put many cases of paint through my A-5 cyclone, and it satisfies me. I haven't had it chop a ball yet, and it keeps up with the RT. Although its wider at the bottom than other hoppers, it is closer to the marker. My gripe is that it will stop turning from low pressure before your gas is too low to shoot a ball. I've found that I can only get around half a dozen balls to shoot after the cyclone stops turning, so its not that big a deal.

It is supposed to be exess, but if you notice the difference in shots per fill between an A-5 and a 98c its way different. There aren't many differences within the internals so its gotta be the cyclone.
RoboCop

The only way you can tell is to close the hole that provides the air to the cyclone. If you find a significant difference, we can say that it is the cyclone.
You Wont See Me

Correct, but I'm not about to do that.
Nickodemus

I think that the A-5 is intentionally set to fire each shot with a higher volume of gas then usual, to have excess available for the blowback/cyclone/RT. Follow the flow direction in the system and you see that it's after the ball gets it's push, and the R/T shares the cyclone's feed out the power tube.
I estimate that per each shot maybe 20% gas is wasted. Whereas a pump gun would not waste, and a 98 only needs blowback to cycle, so would be set to use less volume of gas per shot.
Take off the cyclone and it will use the same amount of gas, since the part has nothing to do with what the valve spits out.
TriggerHappy1

I think special ops paintball actualy tested it. And found no differance except like .7 shots. Both valves are the same and perform the same.

The way the blowback works is when the bolt fully hits the plunger, a litlle lip is pushed to a point that directs the air backward to it. When its directed backward it goes to the rear bolt recocking it and within that same seal to the cyclone/RT.
