Noid Idea

I was wondering how to make my Spyder quieter. I thought about taking some thin foam and sticking it between the noid and where it hits the gun. It'd make it a little quieter, and I can't see anything going wrong. I'll try it and get back to you guys.

Nevermind. It isn't any quieter. Post suggestions on things to use to quiet it down. I can't think of anything. What should I do?
Roll Tide

The obivous ones... convert to LP, quiet barrel, etc...

I have an Icon-E... I'll try some mods and let you know what works.

I would suggest you buy the RAIL system from DW, but they dont make it.

New bolts, new valves, new striker, could all reduce noise and kick

You guys don't get it. I want to make and use homemade ups on this. I'm only BUYING ups for my 98c.

ive never seen the internals of a spyder...but u can always go to ace and buy rubber washers that are real thin...then just cut em in the shape u want and put em on the striker or where it hits the vlave or wherever things make contact...another thing that leads to lots of noise is the portings...if u could somehow cleanly redrill the portings so they angle back at the gun...some of the sound would travel towards the gun instead of at the person ur shooting at ...i think... i actually have no idea if that would work lol...u can always make a copper volumizer which will lower your o.p...

I just need to clarify: you want to tone down the "clacking" noise the noid makes?

Well any noise would help. It's not bad now that it's sucking gas.

...did you mean newbie????

The solenoid is no louder than it is without air. Usualy just a tiny click. Its the high pressure, excessive blowback, strong spring and hammer making all the racket. You can quiet all of them down though as explained.

I don't know Spiders first hand other then a friend's marker I only looked at once. I saw them using them on Reno 911 recently. I would think the pop from the gas escaping would be louder then the mechanics. Turn down the velocity lower then normal? Shoot from farther away - generally the decrease in energy for sound per unit area because of dispersal is proportional to [1/(the distance from the sources squared] This is called noise geometric attenuation.

Shocked

I dont really know of any homemade mods that would quiet down the IS.
