Reballs

So, I got sick of wasting case after case of paint on target/practice shooting. I decided to use what was left of my cash to go out and buy 200 Reballs. Cost me 64 bucks, but they are very worth the cash.

First impressions were good. Very smooth balls, they will not get stuck in your barrel like certain other reusables. The balls will bounce about a foot and a half when dropped from my waist height, so be prepared to contain them when you shoot em'. More on this later.

I pulled out my Freak, and sized them up. I found that they are a little loose in my .682 insert. Shocked Yes. These things are VERY small. I pushed the insert into the back, and dropped my velocity down to the recommended 220 fps. I filled my 9v modded (yes this little tidbit is important) Reloader B and was ready to rock.

My first attempt of conrtaining these bouncy little devils was a failure. I tried to shoot them into a cloth lined wood framed laundry basket with a pillow inside, but the balls still bounced out, even from a shooting distance of about 25 feet. Plus, it was hard to remove the balls from the basket once I was out and needed to refill. This wasn't going to work...

So, I walked around inside my house and found a clothes hanging rack with wheels. It was plastic, maybe 6 feet tall and has a bar running from one side of the unit to the other. Four casters, too. I pulled out a "dust ruffle," aka weak, thin sheet with frillies, and tied it to the rack. On the way out the door, I removed a bed sheet from the closet and took everything outside. I set the clothes unit up, and put the sheet directly under the dust ruffle, so when the balls hit (the dust ruffle) they would fall onto the sheet instead of on the ground. This method proved okay for single shots, but as soon as I began to rip, the ruffle flailed in the impacts of balls. So, many balls ened up going through the catcher and hitting the fence behind it. This would not work either. I sighed, and went looking for something else to catch the balls with. I found three heavy bath towels, and had a revelation. I ran back to the rack, and draped the three towls over the bar. This time, I could rip as fast as I wanted and the heavy towels absorbed every impact. The sheet below caught almost every ball I fired. The sheet kept everything off the ground and allowed for easy pickup.

Success.

Another thing that must be kept in mind with the reballs is that they must be cleaned periodically. I put mine in a colander, and run water over them. Pour them onto a towel, and roll the towel on them until dry.

I realized today that the cone in the Reloader B has a hard time keeping up with the added weight of the reballs, at least when the 9v mod is attached. I had problems with the thing not turniong on or not spinning due to the weight. Of course, my batteries may be getting low prematurely, regardless I had much better success with these things using the stock battery pack.

I suppose the most important aspect of these balls is how they shoot. They shoot JUST LIKE normal paintballs, except they don't break on impact.

After I fixed the whole containment/Reloader issue, I am happier than ever with this product. If you are as fed up as I am with forking over the money for cases of paint just for practice, go ut and buy some Reballs. You'll be glad you did.

If anyone needs pics/better explanations/etc., just hit me up.

EDIT- Yes, this is long, I know, but I feel it covers pretty much all of it.

thanks for the heads up i have often wondered about them, can you shoot them at others (provided they are wearing goggles of course) and what's the added weight like do you get roughly the same range?
Smitty

Does it hurt if you get shot with them? Just curious. Also, are they easy to lose? Will you eventually have to buy more later?
HS

Since they don't break, they will hurt more than a paintball shot at the same velocity. Drop it down to 220, and you can shoot at others without horrible pain.

I have only lost a few thus far, but don't plan on buying more for a long time.

EDIT- As for the weight, the only affect I see with weight is the feeding on low powered hoppers. Range is just like a normal ball. Keep in mind that shooting a Reball at 280 fps is bad for them, but if you did, the range would be the same as a normal ball.

I'd lose them, because I don't know where I could play indoors.
Sureshot3091

yo whered you get them? Also are VBALLS ok to use?
HS

I have never used Vballs before, but they are not used for the same purpose as Reballs. Vballs are soft, velcro type balls that aren't meant to emulate true paintballs. I would take Reballs any day.
sinisterNorth

That's another thing, I have no idea where I'd be able to shoot them off at. I wouldn't want to do it outside because I'd lose them like crazy and be pulling out another $64.
HS

I've seen a lot of people shoot them inside; then, you can play in any weather and run less risk of losing them.
Sureshot3091

YAY!!! I just ordered some....about how long did it take them to arrive HS?
HS

About a week, with cheap shipping. Wink

Yeah, head shot would hurt...

See that line, over there? The one growing closer? Lets not cross it.

First of all, if your going to shoot him in his sleep have the decency to put a mask on him.

I'm not fond of these threads promoting violence/shooting without masks.

Just to clear this up, I wasnt saying to shoot him in the head. I meant that if you were to shoot and 1 hit him in the head, it would hurt. But the idea of doing so shouldnt be taken seriously because a serious injury could occur. I agree we should stsay away from this stuff.
You Wont See Me

Just throwing the warning out there. I will not have these boards turn into a spawn for dangerous activities like the tippmann forums. The mods didnt do a thing about the firework thread over there.

Sorry for hijacking it HS
HS

All right. Back on topic then...
sinisterNorth

So, would you say they're worth the price??
HS

Definitely. They are an investment that will save you a ton of cash.
You Wont See Me

If you get 200 they'll pay themselves off after about 10 or so uses.
sinisterNorth

Hhmm....

Can they be bought pretty much anywhere?
rossy11223

I have never seen them in stores.
