RIP Byberry

Two weeks ago there was news of upcoming demolition. And since then there have been contractors/workers all over the property. There was a fire in one of the buildings a week ago too destroying all of the tools set up. So they put a very very crappy fence around, followed by undercover cops in the buildings playing a good act as explorers. So its been hard to get in, and i guess i wont be able to make a last visit...

Yesterday was the groundbreaking ceremoney, destroying the historic entrance sign. it really pissed me off seeing a bunch of well dressed greedy business men in Byberry clapping. This place has so much history behind it good and bad, but so much and theyre just smashing it down.

This place meant so much to some people, and its really sad to see it go. heres the video

That thing has been abandoned for over 20 years. That is a long time. This kind of stuff happens. It's sad to see it go, but it has become vandalized and they said that people have had parties there. They were talking about how getting rid of the asbestos is going to take about a year. That stuff isn't good for you.

That stinks, but I guess with the parties and people sneaking in, you'd have to have seen it coming. Sorry to hear that they're tearing it down. Sorry to hear you can't make one last trip either.

Yeah, because Phillys so nice and not full of criminals and drugs.... haha, ten years and this new place will be just as much of a crap-hole. And traffic...

But yeah it was bound to happen. Lucky it went this long. Plans for demo have been falling through since it was abandoned. I just wish it could have waited a few more years till i can drive there every weekend.

Guess its the abandoned warehouse down the street for me now!
