Well it's been too long...

I'm working on selling a 98c I've got laying around.  I aired it up today, and it holds air fine.  It fires the first shot, recocks, fires the second, but doesn't recock.  I can't for the life of me remember what the problem would be.  It's been way too long since I've messed with this stuff.  Anyway, my M4 98c is running awesome (Super R/T, Cyclone, M4 accessories).  I just can't get the R/T tuned just right.  That and I'm not that good at sweet spotting it.  It was hard to tell though because at the end I was low on CO2.

Anyway I just want to know why my gun would shoot 1-2 shots and uncock, and any advice on tuning or sweetspotting the R/T would be awesome.

open everything up. Make sure all the o-rings and stuff are in place. Oil that sucker up.

For the R/T, stick oil in that and in the side hose hole. Having that oiled up made a huge difference for me and made it much easier to sweetspot. It brought my R/T back to life when mine stopped working.

Just looking at it quick, it looks like it's missing a rear buffer o-ring.  I doubt this would do that, but I know I need one.  And I just noticed that the two screws on the side that hold the valve in place are missing.  Could that be it?
RoboCop

The valve moving around is a big problem. Definitely get the screws to replace the missing ones.
Smitty

Anyone have any laying around?  They'd cost nothing to ship, and I could paypal the $ to do it.  Lmk.  I also need a buffer O-Ring.

I'll look. I have access to enough repairs parts to fix 50 90c's. Can you take a pic of what you need?

Well I'm not sure if this is all, but here:

Valve Screw (Small one that goes on the side of the gun to hold the valve)

Actually if you've got an O-Ring kit for a 98c, or a kit with any parts that'd be great.  I'm selling it so I'd like it to work as good as it can.  Just let me know what you've got.  Thumbs up

Well I can't take a whole kit, just a few parts. Do you know what size oring the buffer oring is? I don't feel like digging through repair kits. If you know the size I can just pull one out of my monstrous oring kit that has just about every size you could ever need.

edit: I just saw another picture and it was a square "o"ring. Are you looking for a square one or an actual oring

It's not square.  I'm not sure on the size.  It's grey if that helps at all.  It's a bigger one.

Here's a link to one at TippmannParts.com:

If you could find the actual 98c O-Ring that'd be best.  Just let me know.

I couldn't find any of the screws but I did get the oring. I just left it at the field. I'll get it on Saturday.

You can't find the screws anywhere?  Maybe I'll just email Tippmann and they'll send me 2.  Hopefully those screws and that O-Ring will fix it.
abr5

I looked in 5 kits and there weren't any.

I'd just go to a hardware store and find some. Go on the tippman forum or something and ask what size they are
RoboCop

The valve bolts are the problem. Once it fires a couple if times, it moves too much from getting pounded by the hammer therefore not letting off enough pressure to return the bolt.
abr5

Yeah, they are definitely the problem. But they are also pretty standard screws that you should be able to find at almost any hardware store.
Smitty

I emailed Tippmann.  I'll kep you guys posted.  Thanks for all the help.
abr5

Ah!!! I forgo the oring at the shop AGAIN. Its in a  binder with all of my manuals and rule books and stuff.
Smitty

Well if anyone here has those parts lmk.  Tippmann won't send them... I must have talked to some jerk working there.  I'll try again sometime and see if I get someone that will send me the parts.
abr5

Smitty, PM me your info.
Smitty

abr you are awesome.   Now does anyone have any valve screws?
