You may have heard the rumours about it, but it seems like it is true.

Paintball has just become an environmental threat.

Any "pollution" would be no differant than your grill, except less. I see it as a bad idea, particularly for a new-player directed company. Someone will put it together wrong or not seal the line right and itll leak, then become a very potentialy dangerous thing. Although there are many many benefits, it can be potentialy very dangerous.

It claims to be able to get 50,000 shots off a tank. Thats a lot. Those tanks are cheap as hell too. I wonder what would happen if you sucked up liquid propane, because it is in liquid form. Similar spikes and such like co2?

BOOM! Well that's another kid dead from an exploding paintball marker. I like the concept but not fond of the propane.

I agree with Tarallo. Air is FREE!! Well you know before you need to compress it to use. After that your paying for the cost of the compressor, storage tanks, lines, fill station(s) and so forth, thats why it cost one whole dollar per 1000psi to fill your tank at most places.

Is Tippmann trying to "kill" paintball? Wait to the freakin lawers hear of this not to mention the local PTA.

If you compress it greatly it is very consistant/more powerful....well I can't think of the right word..damn.

Yes but its in liquid form, not compressed. Just like co2.

Liquid Propane pressures-
Vapor Pressure at 0F 28 PSI
Vapor Pressure at 70 F 122 PSI
Vapor Pressure at 100 F 190 PSI

A lot lower pressure than co2 which is why the tanks are so thin. But I doubt pressure even matters since it is ignited within the gun. But what if liquid propane is siphoned? More fuel in the ignition chamber, right?

Is this not going to classify it as a firearm. Combustion is taking place... Will this tighten laws on underage citizens getting their hands on it? Will a license be necessary? How will people look at paintball now that the guns are usuing combustion as the propellant? Tippmann might've opened a can of worms....

Here's the lowdown on the C3:

"Yep its confirmed from four different sources including a member of tippmanns national headquarters R&D.

The tippmann "C3" an experimental pump action marker that runs off of Propane.

This marker is not to be sold as of now and is just part of tippmanns alternate power source research.

The marker barrel heats up after heavy fire [its a pump so no 30bps for this]. It also gets very good efficiency.

No plans to release this item to the general public are being made, but at this point further "testing and development" of this product are still an option. Further research into this project is still to be decided. HOWEVER if they were to release it [insert one of those tricky corporate "maybe we will....maybe we wont" here] it would retail at around $200 USD. One tippmann rep let this go to some people at a field that it was tested at.

"It is pump only because when you pull the pump back it lets propane into a combusting chamber then when the pump returns it closes the chamber and the trigger pull ignites the propane causing the ball to fire (not sure if its the air force or the bolt that pushes the ball) The guy said it has a safety feature that only allows a trigger pull if the guns pump is back in the closed position to stop the combustion from blowing the tank. He also said the gun gets kind of warm after about 25 shots. Lastly the thing can get around 10,000 (!!!) shots per tank, and that's only a rough guess. When it comes out you can expect even more shots per tank."

It seems they are showing the "C3" off as a alternative to CO2 [for people that CO2 is hard to come by] and as a teaser for some new items they are working on. APPARENTLY they are working on a semi-auto/mech and a semi-auto/electro that uses the same power source...hmmm....interesting. So they are looking to make paintball even more easily accessible by using alternate sources of "fuel". It seems the main target of the "C3" is the folks without access to CO2....some talk of the New Zealand area and other overseas areas that don't have the quick access to CO2...perhaps tippmann is making a move on becoming a large global force in paintball...however with the current oil/gas trends one has to wonder if they are setting themselves up for a problem, but with the prospected efficiency per tank 10k+ shots one cant help but think that this may be a big trend."
